The Best Gaming Laptops 2020 – Buyer’s Guide
ķAs we look at what looks like the most exciting gaming season of the holidays so far, it’s also time to see the introduction of a whole new category of laptops. In addition to the gear refresh, the new line of Ultra slim laptops are completely monsters. From the Intel Core i7 10th Gen 16-core processors to the RTX 2080 Super video cards, this new plant of laptops represents a high jump over its predecessors. I recently got the chance to test out the new Razer Blade 15. First things first, let’s get it out of the box –
The first thing I noticed when not connecting to the device was the aluminum composite case, which not only had an exterior but inside and inside – no plastic here. Laying hands on it, aluminum makes the rest of the material cold and unaffected. The power transmission is placed in the same feed, weighing about one pound, 3oz. My laptop a generation ago was about 9lbs, and a 3 pound brick, so my shoulder was already happy. Since the device does not have a box, let’s take a walk around and talk about communication.
As this is a high-end model, the laptop comes with a set of modern ports options. On the left lies two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, and the third on the right. At the back is a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. On the left are the HDMI 2.0b port, the Kensington lock port, the HS-III SD Card Reader, and the welcome Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port.
Going in, this upgraded model comes with the 10th Gen Intel Core (i7-10875 8-Core – 2.3GHz when plugged in at a maximum of 5.1GHz at full power), the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super (Max-Q, 8GB DDR6 VRAM ), 16GB Dual-Channel (8GB x 2) DDR4-2933MHz (up to 64GB capacity), 1TB SSD (M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4, swappable), and 80Wh battery. All this power drives a 15.6 ”display running at 300Hz. There is an OLED 4K option to choose from, but having seen that higher regeneration rates would make gameplay, I agreed to choose 1080p.
One of the ports you may have noticed is not clearly in the Ethernet port. At a time when Gigabit Ethernet is just as good as a gaming laptop, it was surprising to see it lost here. The gaming device is Intel’s Wireless Card (Intel AX201, which supports 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac and standard standard ax phone, I found I didn’t remember much Ethernet communication. Intel’s new one is compatible with my transfer needs easily.
Expansion sheet spec keyboard with full-size keyboards, sporting a key RGB lighting engine that integrates Razer’s Chroma software. After typing this review into a used keyboard, I can honestly say that it sounds a lot like my previous laptop that had the best SteelSeries board in it – quite high praise. On the screen there is a 1MP webcam scanner with 720p power. That won’t win any prizes, and I’ll be using my Kiyo in any stream I make, but the contents of it should do things like Hello Windows facial recognition.
One of the things I quickly found to be missing could be a physical button or a function key to disable the touchpad. This large space is kind of nice, at least as far as touchpads, but as long as you have connected the mouse it is a great way to accidentally skip your document. It’s not a big deal, but if you usually hit the mouse and the pad, you’ll need to fight this blur with Windows control.
As you can see within this document, I ran a metric ton of benchmarks for action and gameplay. One would expect this device, powered by, to sound like a jet engine and reach extremely high temperatures.
In terms of price, Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop costs $1989.11 in the US.

2. Acer Predator Helios 300
Acer has been searching for bezels a bit over the past few years, though. While the upper and lower bezels still have the dimensions, the side bezels were small enough to give a modern feel.
The new Acer Predator Helios 300 update ranges from a revive pace of 144Hz to 240Hz. A quick refresh rate is useful for fast online games, whether you’re playing Counter-Strike: Global Awful or Overwatch. While at 240 frames per second it may sound out of competition for laptop gaming, players who enjoy competitive games are often willing to compromise on optimization settings. You can even now decide on the 144Hz screen, be that as it may, which accompanies the $ 1,200 model.
The screen has a response time of 3ms, which provides fast and fluid input. The Helios 300 doesn’t support G-Sync, though, so you might notice the frame cracks, something noticeable that happens when the game’s frame doesn’t match the show’s refresh rate.
The screen has a resolution of 1080p and uses IPS technology. It has a blue tint, or the screen handles the darker shades of Battlefield V. It’s not the brightest or most colorful screen in the world, but it doesn’t come off as poor. That’s good.
The Predator Helios 300 has a strong combination of ports that will delight gamers. To the left are an Ethernet jack, two USB-A ports, and a headphone jack.
The right side offers two display output options: HDMI port or mini-DisplayPort. There are many ports on your keyboard or mouse, in addition if you want to make your document on an external screen. The Mini-Display Port is a weird choice by 2020, however, and the Thunderbolt 3 is not included.
The force jack is on the back. I lean toward that the presentation result is interfered with to a cleaner set, however that is not the situation.
In contrast to most moderate gaming PCs, the Predator Helios 300 has a decent console and touchpad. The touchpad, specifically, is shockingly acceptable. It has a peaceful snap machine and quick, responsive following. The chamfered aluminum edges around the touchpad adds some panache to the game’s PC look.
It offers a standard design with just one turbo button on top. There are no major keys to the program, or Acer adds a new number to the right of the device. Its RGB lighting is hosted by Acer’s Predator Sense software, which is offered in a set of four environments.
Unlike Asus’ laptops for the latest ROG games, the Predator Helios 300 features a 720p webcam at the top of the screen. It does not support Windows Hello login, however, in the form of a fingerprint scanner or IR camera.
My pre-creation Helios 300 unit likewise accompanies the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q. Note that this is not the latest RTX 2070 Super graphics, but rather the previous generation.
I was still unable to test the pre-production system on the benches, but I found the Warfield V game and experienced a smooth game. The RTX 2070 Max-Q has proven to be a solid laptop chip among some of the programs we’ve reviewed that test it, and I doubt it will be any different here.
My fix comes with 32GB of RAM and 2TB SSD. The system adds an additional PCIe NVMe SSD slot to the RAID 0 configuration for future updates.
The base configuration comes with the Nvidia RTX 2060, 16GB of RAM, and the 512GB SSD. The previous Helios 300 debuted with the GTX 1660 Ti, so it is the new base for a major expansion of the game’s performance at the same price. That is important. My contaminated review unit had all the tricks, but the basic model is the most interesting one
3. MSI GS65 Stealth-006
Say hello to my friend with beautiful skin. At just 4.1 pounds and a size 0.7 inches (amended at $ 1,999, or $ 1,799 first of all), MSI’s GS65 Stealth Thin is one of the organization’s littlest PCs to date.It is also one of the first game plans to include Intel’s 8-gen, six-door Cofi Lake processor, which guarantees 20 percent more execution than its forerunner, making this model a decent production system.
But MSI has never looked at gaming, immersing the VR-Nvidia GeForce 1070 Max-Q GPU into that little card and all that ensures that the booklet will deliver the highest prices and the most authentic experience – all in the best frame. We wish the machine to keep cool, but overall the MSI GS65 Stealth is one of the best gaming laptops you can buy for those who like to carry luggage.
Editor’s note: MSI is now selling the new GS65 Stealth model, an upgraded model with 9th Gen Intel processor, Nvidia RTX 2070 graphics and 240Hz display. We’ll update this phone soon.
The core of the laptop chassis is made of black, matte sandblasted aluminum alloy. Instead of the usual red-and-white dragon symbol of backlit, MSI uses Midas’s small hold, removing you from the black and gold emblem. A thin, diamond-shaped piece of diamond is on the top of the head. The company also added gold to the apartments to shine in the best color.
Designed for work and play, MSI equips Stealth with a flexible warranty that allows you to put on a tangible placement, should you ever need a faster partnership. Pressing Ctrl Alt + Down Arrow will turn the screen 180 degrees to give a better view of the person sitting across from you.
The interior of the lab is stained, with black aluminum on top. The power button and touchpad are weighed in gold, with a bright, photographic keyboard. While I am a person who loves the overall look, my favorite part of the interior is the high ceiling, with its colorful floral designs.
While the Stealth Frame is quite small, it still has many ports. On the right sits a USB 3.1 Type-A port, Thunderbolt 3, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI and a power jack. You will find USB 3.1 Type-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet, secure key lock, microphone jack and S / PDIF jack for high-res audio.
So, how little is Stealth Thin? Very much. At 14.1 x 9.8 x 0,7 inches, the 4-pound laptop is one of the smallest gaming laptops on the market. The Asusephyrus ROG M GM501 is 5.5 pounds in second, and the 15.1 x 10.3 x 0.7 ~ 0.8-inch frame. The PowerSpec 1510 is on the heavy side of the equation at 6.5 pounds, 15.3 x 10.8 x 1.3 inches and the Alienware 15 R3 is the lightest and heaviest of the crowd at 7.4 pounds and 15.3 x 12 x 1 inches.
MSI GS65 Stealth Thin price and repair
The MSI GS65 Stealth starts at $ 1,799, which includes the Core i7-8750H CPU, 16GB of RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q GPU with 6GB of VRAM .
Stealth 15.6-inch show just accompanies a 1920 x 1080 goals. But while I would like to get a QHD or a 4K version, I’ve greatly appreciated the 144-Hertz level refreshment, which should help bring down tears on screen and latency. I was also surprised by the amazingly clear hues, such as the neon holographic blue and green controls that are Tears of Steel. The details are sharp enough that I can see the individual scales in the snake’s eye and the dirt and cracks in the cracks.
4. MSI GL65 Leopard 10SFK-062
While miniature and lightweight laptops are the main favorites these days, there is still a market for restoration among the major desktops of yore – and the MSI GL65 Leopard 10SFK-062 uses that saturation to take things to the next level. MSIs show a thin and lightweight gaming condition on the MSI Stealth line, however with the Leopard 10SFK-062, they have allowed it to carry more weight to deliver more game power and gameplay than anyone can handle.
It brings great power to a low but attractive package that is quite unique, especially the RGB lit SteelSeries keyboard, 144Hz display, High-res audio, Nvidia GTX 2070 GPU and, 10th Gen. Intel Core i7. -10750H processor. This is a powerful configuration that will see you through high quality games and extensive production work without breaking your bank.
In any event the MSI GL65 Leopard 10SFK-062 goes up with regards to its 720p webcam, which gives a decent picture in the correct light. Both sizes share even size, at 1.1 x 14.1 x 9.8 centimeters. Though not as small as Asusephyrus or Razer Blade 15, this manual is not difficult. With the display bezels, they come as they find.
Outwardly, the 10SFK-062 sinks into a gamer buzzword with its red and dark shading plan. Most of the red comes from a few accents on the chassis, and on top of that, full views on this machine are standard, except for the MSI logo of the games on the cover (passively backlit by the screen). Even though the look is sublime, it won’t fault anything other than a gaming laptop.
The MSI ports are built on their sides – not so much, the good choice makes the inefficiencies present. On the left, you have the Ethernet jack, HDMI and mini DisplayPort video output; USB 3.2 and C-type ports; as well as separate headphones and microphone jacks.
Currently, the right edge has two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a full size SD card reader, and a power connector.
GL65 packs a display that should be matched to a game simulation. In addition to its 1080p resolution ready for gameplay with the GeForce RTX 2070, however, the gameplay is enhanced with its bright and colorful image, anti-glare area and IPS technology that offers a variety of visuals.
The panel’s refresh rate of 144Hz is usually based on deluxe game screens, and that’s pretty much calculated. Aside from some less demanding esports titles, the RTX 2070 will definitely move more than 60 frames per second (fps) in today’s games.
MSI sells upscale models on the GL65 line with each key light, and that is featured here. It looks normal if you’ve used the MSI gaming laptop recently, with a nice rubber feel and enough keys. As for the composition, the left Windows key is missing, instead, it has a pre-existing MSI Dragon Center feature that allows you to change its functionality with the Fn key.
There is a button dedicated to the right of the keyboard that introduces the Dragon Center, next to it is a power button and one for engaging a large fan speed. The keyboard is built in conjunction with SteelSeries hardware manufacturers, and that means that you have software support to adjust your gaming profile accordingly.
The larger wide GL65 touch is located on the left of the touchpad. Only distance by clicking its largest buttons, otherwise it works fine. Occasionally, you may find yourself hitting the pad to click to block the sound.
It has no built-in biometric features, a drawback that it shares with many other gaming laptops. The GL65 Leopard imparts its essential plan to MSI’s pricier GS75 Stealth, just that our audit unit accompanies a couple of turns on the cover. On the audio side, MSI’s speaker-high-resolution pair offers audio output, but they can’t completely replace quality headphones.
In terms of price, the MSI GL65 Leopard 10SFK-062 costs $1699.
5. Acer Predator Triton 500
The Predator Triton 500 (starting at $ 1,699.99; $ 2,599.99 as tested) is a 15-inch Acer gaming laptop, now being updated in 2020. We praised it for its story last year, and almost everything we love is back with this year’s model, but with updated features. Our test unit is a very deceptive arrangement (released by the GeForce RTX 2080 Superchip), so your model shouldn’t be too expensive (or powerful), but appealing to those who can afford it. Given the premium laptop, though its original price is high, no matter how well-designed, portable, and full-featured gaming is one of our favorites, even if it doesn’t support the Asus ROG Editorial option Zephyrus S GX502 for the price.
At first glance, the Triton 500 looks great with the 2019 model. While that means no major changes, the original version was quite good, from both design and standpoint quality. The chassis is all-metal, which gives the system a premium feel like you’re expecting a price, while the attractive and blue system is always available.
On the negative side, the screen bezel is still a little plastic, although this is not something you need to touch a lot, at all. The Triton 500 is no different to last year’s model: The word “Predator” no longer appears on the cover, just my logo, which is a development for me.
The design and size puts the Triton 500 in good company with some of our favorite high-end laptops such as the Razer Blade 15 and Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX502. The first one comes in at 0.7 by 14 by 9.25 inches by 4.6 pounds, while the last is by 0.74 by 14.2 by 9.9 inches and by 4.5 pounds. These are the cream of the crop among the laptops for high performance design and performance, with the Triton 500 coming in the middle.
The distribution of the design between the new and advanced models does not extend to features and structures. The full IPS display in this unit features Nvidia G-Sync and 300Hz refresh, something we’ve started to see (and will continue to see more) on high-end gaming laptops. No, most games will not reach, or even close to, the 300-frame-per-second (fps) frame prices on this laptop, but the performance hips want to climb to their full potential with the titles of many select players.
The screen quality is good, with a matte finish that cuts down the imagination and high-quality light. 1080p resolution is reasonable, or you may want high resolution in AAA games. The RTX 2080 Super GPU will be able to rate frame rates at 1440p, but that’s still impressive, especially on a laptop. Acer opted to increase the frame rates in all cases, and I think that’s the right call for a 300Hz screen.
As for these components, our high-end SKU is packed with some of the most powerful options available. This $ 2,599.99 model features a 10th Generation “Comet Lake” Intel Core i7-10750H processor, 32GB of memory, the aforementioned GeForce RTX 2080 Super (Max-Q) GPU, and 1TB solid-state drive. That is almost entirely similar as you will see 15-inch gaming in 2020. Some 17-inch models can flaunt a Core i9 CPU, and more force than the MaG-Q adaptations of the GPUs, however it’s hard to fit significantly more Power than this on a small 15-inch chassis.
The launch model retails for $ 1,699.99 with 16GB of memory, an RTX 2060 GPU, and a 512GB SSD. Between this and our unit, Acer offers a number of GPU-enabled models (RTX 2070 and RTX 2080 non-Super), as well as RAM and storage capabilities between base and top.
